A Healthy Smile for Life
The 4 steps
Take the 4 Steps to a healthy smile
Once you’ve got into the habit of brushing, flossing and rinsing every day, you won’t even realise you’re doing it. Of course, we recommend you also visit the dentist regularly. But by adding just a few minutes to your daily dental routine, you can be sure you’ll have something to really smile about every time you visit.

Did you know? Research has shown that adults who flossed had twice as many plaque free surfaces between their teeth*.

Step 1 – Brush with fluoride toothpaste
Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste has been proven to reduce the risk of tooth decay. To find the right Colgate toothpaste for you, click here.
How to brush
Proper brushing takes two full minutes. Make sure you use short, gentle strokes. Be careful around the gum line and rotate your brush away from the gum as you make each stroke. Finish by brushing your tongue as well. |
What to use
A soft-bristled brush with a small head is usually best, as it can reach more areas of the mouth. Alternatively, electric toothbrushes can do a better job at cleaning, especially for those with limited dexterity.
You should replace your toothbrush when it begins to show wear, or at least every three months. You should also change your toothbrush after you’ve had a cold.
